The plate "ZOS 401" seems so significant. 4 is my lucky number. I also can't help thinking that the "ZO" part is what I should be focusing on. I now I said I wouldn't do it, but I wonder if "Zoey" is the correct name for my car. I said I'd never name my pets or children (or cars) after characters, but after taking an hour-long drive around the district, I realised I was in Zoey's headspace while driving: a little sidetracked, but instinctively turning and changing gears before I'd even known what was going on.
My car is also maroon. Not quite the kind of red I like, but I feel it's very comforting. Could be because the car I've been driving for the last 9 years is the same colour.
But I wonder... is the fun-loving delivery girl I've been writing about in some way literally connected to this machine? The reason I won't name things after my characters is because it's likely that the personality of that character will be "imprinted" on whatever I name. Even if it's not, I feel I might start treating it as if it has.
I'm not sure yet. It's been 8 days. Mum didn't name "Millie" (1993 Ford Falcon = reason for name: bought in 2000, i.e. Millennium Falcon) for a few weeks, and Geoff only named "Ivan" (2001 Holden Commodore = reason for name: "Commie", i.e. Communist Russian) last year. Mum's latest car "George" (2012 Suzuki Swift), I think is named after the "Georges" around here (long story short, I once saw a masked lapwing and pretended to chase it for a hug, quoting "I will love it and pet it and I will call it George" from the old Loony Tunes cartoons, so they're all "George" now).
I dunno. It's been the first name I've thought of each time, but I'm not sure it's the right one.
